Nagpur: Minister of Food and Narcotics Administration (FDA) Rajendra Shingne, who is carrying out a Nagpur tour on Saturday, has requested its department to ensure that adequate oxygen supply and availability of drugs for the possibility of the third wave of Covid-19 is maintained, during the reviews.
Meet at Ravi Bhavan.
Shingne also urged officials to take action against falsified foods, especially in the background of the ongoing celebration season.
Shingne, through the video clip release, said he had instructed FDA officials to focus on the infrastructure of oxygen generator, stocking, supply channels along with the availability of crucial anti-covid drugs such as remdesivir before the third wave that was projected in the coming months.
“I have asked FDA officials – not only in the Nagpur Division but also in the state – to ensure oxygen supply and stock of drugs maintained,” he said.
Shingne reviewed the current oxygen stock at a different center, along with the availability of anti-covid drugs.
Apart from Covid, Shingne also learned to take stock availability of anti-fungal drugs for mukormycosis and other related diseases that came after the second wave of this year.
Shingne also put stress on the destruction of forgery rackets, especially those involved with milk and dairy products, vegetable oils, mawa and candy during the celebration season.
He also instructed FDA officials to meet with hospitality businesses, restaurant owners, food producers, and units to create awareness of counterfeiting and related laws.
Shingne also asked officials to ensure the number of searches and raids carried out were improved.
“We will also overcome the problem of availability of labor and current vacancies in various FDA units,” Shingne said.
