Mumbai: With the reception of Daily Covid which reduces droplets, at least two Jumbo Field Hospitals have stopped current acceptance.
The third wave arrived and peaked before several Jumbos could even finish recruiting labor, forcing them to reduce operations once more in one month after activating it.
Jumbo facilities in Malad and Dahisar have stopped acknowledging patients since the last few days.
Dahisar Jumbo who runs the Covid outpatient department is to divert patients who need a ticket to enter the Nesco Field Hospital in Goregaon.
At the Malad Jumbo hospital, several staff were recruited in early January, when the third wave began to get momentum, it might be released in the next few days.
At its peak, almost 1,400 people were hospitalized in a day, but the volume was seen only for five days before the decline began.
Residential 37,185 Covid beds as a whole have dropped to 5.5% in the city.
At the Covid Care Center (CCC2) which includes Jumbos, almost 102 (2%) from 5,132 beds occupied on Wednesday.
About 7% of oxygen beds, ICU beds 21% and 27% of ventilator beds are occupied if the category of severe patients is considered.
Most of the Jumbos, including BKC in Bandra, Nesco in Goregaon, Richardson and Cruddas in Mulund and Byculla, Malad, Kanjurmarg and Dahecar, were activated as active cases of Mumbai up from 2,061 on the 20 to 1.02 lakh in mid-January.
Suresh Kakani, the commissioner of the extra city, said that the centers were not closed.
“It’s an internal setting between Jumbos to ensure optimal resources are used,” he said.
Kakani added that they would monitor the situation for a week before making decisions about limiting operations in several centers.
The center of Malad Jumbo, which was built by MMRDA, was mainly built to overcome the third wave.
Even though it was handed over to BMC in June, it was in standby mode until the third wave hit.
The center starts on January 7, activates 1,600 beds.
“Overall, we might have recognized less than 100 patients,” Dean Dr.
Prashant Mishra said.
The center does not have reception in the last few days.
“If it continues, the contract of several staff who have completed a month may not be extended,” he said.
Dr.
Deepa Shriyan, Dean of Dahisar Jumbo, said they had seen around 300 reception in the first three weeks of January before the reception dropped dramatically.
In the main jumbo center like BKC, there are only 40 patients on Wednesday.
While Nesco on Goregaon who took references from other Jumbos had 72 patients, including 19 in the ICU.
