Parliament was stopped when the king stated an emergency in January to fight Covid-19, following the advice of the Prime Minister.
But political rivals accused Muhyiddin using a crisis to avoid voting without confidence in the legislature while sustaining a weak coalition government, which was on the verge of destruction.

Muhyiddin, who seized power in March last year without election after the collapse of the reformist government, had seen his government running with conflict.
The biggest party that supports it, United Malay (UMNO) national organization, announces that it attracts support for its coalition earlier this month.
But Umno himself was divided – some of his parliamentarians still returned to Muhyiddin – and his position seemed safe in the short term.
