Malda: Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Gour Mandal submitted his resignation on Tuesday after the Calcutta High Court rejected his prayer to remain an insignificant notice presented by 23 strong 38 district board members.
Justice Shampa Sarkar refused to remain a motion without trust and also a meeting scheduled for July 8 for voting.
The single bench asked the chairman’s officer to receive a call about this problem.
Mandal, who has joined BJP ahead of the assembly poll, which was contested from Manikchak, but was lost.
Some members of Trinamool-Run Malda Zilla Parishad defected with the mandal, but traced their way after the poll.
They are among those who issue notice not confident.
Mandal moved the High Court, challenging notice.
In his petition, he said the very important meeting should not be held in the middle of a pandemic.
