Maldives signed a contract to launch an Indian Mega Infra-funded project

New Delhi: Maldives on Thursday sealed a contract for the implementation of Indian-funded connectivity projects, which was billed as the largest infrastructure initiative launched in the island country.
Under the larger GMCP project connectivity project (GMCP) project, 6.74-km-length bridge and Causeway link will be built to connect the capital city with the islands side by side in Villingli, Gulhifalhi and Thaifushi.
Funded with a $ 100 million grant and a $ 400 million credit line from India, this will be the biggest infrastructure project in Maldives, officials said.
Contracts for project implementation are signed between the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure of Maldives and Infrastructure AFCons Ltd.
