Dharmapuri: A 42-year-old man and his 13-year-old daughter sank after sports vehicles (SUV) they traveled in a setback in 70 feet long near Karimanglam here on Tuesday.
Fire service personnel and rescue have taken their bodies from wells after six hours of struggle.
Police Karimanglam said the incident occurred when Linga, from Linga Nagar in Bengaluru, wife of Umalakshmi and Putri Sushmitha, returned home after living with her sister at her house in Mettur in Salem for two days.
Veeran, who is a manager with a personal garment unit in Bengaluru, is in the steering wheel.
C Kalaichelvan, police supervisor (SP), Dharmapuri, said, “When crossing the path on the Salem-Bengaluru National Highway, Veeran lost control of the SUV, which deviated from the road close to the highway.” While Umalaxhmi managed to get out of the vehicle through The back door, which was opened when the SUV fell in the well, said the officer, Veeran and Sushmitha was stuck in the vehicle.
The people who witnessed the incident warned Karimangalam police, who reached a place along with fire service personnel and rescue from Dharmapuri and Palacode fire stations and saved Umalakshmi, which floated in the water.
“He was accepted at a government hospital in Karimangalam and his condition was stable,” said SP Sushmitha was a class VII student from a private school.
Karimanglam police have registered a case and further investigation.
