Colombo (Sri Lanka): Sri Lanka’s former fast bowller Laslher Malinga has been appointed as coach of the national team bowling strategy for the tour of Australia.
Malinga, in the short-term role as a specialist coach, will support Sri Lankan bowler, providing tactical insight and technical expertise to assist the implementation of the strategic plan in the field.
“Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce the appointment of Lasith Malinga, the Sri Lanka fast bowling legend and former captain of the ODI team and T20i, as ‘coach bowling strategy’ of the national team for the upcoming Australian tour,” SLC said in a statement.
“He was appointed by the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket in consultation with the Technical Advisory Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket.
Designation is valid from 1 to February 20, 2022,” he added.
Sri Lanka Cricket said he was confident that the large experience and expertise Malinga bowling famous death, especially in the T20 format, will help the team to the very entrance into this series.
“We have some very talented young bowler and I am very excited about the opportunity to share my experience and knowledge to help them grow,” said Malinga after assuming appropriate official statement.
Former Sri Lankan Cricketer Ramesh Ratnayake has also been appointed as caretaker coach of the national side for the upcoming Australian tour.
Five-match series from February 11 to 20 will be played in three venues, Sydney Cricket Ground, Manuka Oval and Melbourne Cricket ground.
