Mamahant’s death: The CBI team reached Prayagraj for the probe

Lucknow: Team of five members of the Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) from Delhi reached Prayagraj on Thursday afternoon for a preliminary investigation for the death of the Head of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, Mahant Narendra Giri.
The state government has recommended the CBI probe into Mamahant’s death on Wednesday night.
Thursday night, Dopt issued a notification for the CBI investigation into Mamahant’s death.
The team visited Bagambhari Math in Prayagraj where Giri allegedly ended his life.
The CBI team also met with members of the Special Investigation Team (Sitting) formed by the state government to investigate this case.
The CBI team reached the Prasagraj about 1pm and went straight to the police line.
Senior police officials, including SSP Sarvashresth Tripathi and Zona IG Prayagraj Kp Singh, and the team sat 18 members also reached the police line.
The team also questioned doctors who did postmortem in Giri’s body.
The source said Sleuth CBI recorded the statement of Mahant Giri’s students who violated opened Mamahant’s room and lowered his body hanging on the ceiling.
The source added that this CBI team will return to Delhi and other teams will be formed to conduct an investigation.
According to the rules, the CBI took over the investigation only after the notification was released and then the initial question was carried out before the FIR was registered in a case.
The request of the CBI probe was raised by opposition parties, including Congress and Shiv Sena.
Some of the forecasters and Hindu leaders also demanded the CBI probe into the death of Mahant Narendra Giri.
