New Delhi: Head of West Bengal Bengal Mamata Banerjee met with Transport Minister Union Nitin Gadkari here on Thursday after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, and discussed several infrastructure projects for the State to invite global investors.
“We discussed issues related to road and infrastructure projects, including transportation, road connectivity, and manufacturing units with electric buses.
We also asked to build several flyovers in Kolkata,” said Mamata Banerjee, after the meeting.
Head of Government Secretary Bengal HK Dwivedi will reach Delhi on Friday, after that the meeting will be repaired for further discussion, he added.
Banerjee, who was in Delhi to start talks with opposition parties to unite the United BJP against the powerful BJP, brought delayed road and transportation projects, including deep sea ports in Tajpur, the sources said.
“I asked Gadcariji that it would be good if we get the manufacturing industry in our country to make electric vehicles.
Bengal borders Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and the northeastern United States, so we need the right way, he told reporters after the meeting.
Minister’s head Bengal also gave a report to the UNI Minister on the construction of rural roads in West Bengal under the third phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the source said.
The sea port located nearly 200 km from Kolkata is expected to attract the investment of Rs 15000 Crore and produce 25,000 jobs in the state.
Banerjee will also meet the minister of major departments such as petroleum, flights, trains and trade immediately to discuss various development projects in the state, said Source.
