Kolkata: Head of West Bengal Minister Mamata Banerjee can expand its cabinet on Tuesday and the possibility of maintaining a financial portfolio for itself while making Chandrima Bhattacharya State Minister in the Department, the top source in the government said on Monday.
Former Finance Minister Dr.
Amit Mitra, who has stated his inability to continue as a minister because of his fragile health condition, can be made as an advisor.
Agriculture Minister Shobhandebob Chatttopadhyay could be given accusations of the Perancrayat Department after the sudden subrata mukherjee death last week, said the source.
There is a high probability that Udayan Guha, who recently won the poll at the North Bengal Dinhata Constituency with a record margin of 1.64 lakh, will be a minister.
The leader of BJP Nisith Pramanik, who became Minister of Union later, has won the assembly selection with a thin wafer margin of only 57 votes defeating Gamha from the Dinhata seat earlier this year.
He, however, resigned as MLA to maintain his membership at Lok Sabha after TMC secured a landslide victory, needed a poll.
“Udayan Guha can be used as a minister of Development of North Bengal, a portfolio that is being watched by CM itself after the defeat of Goutam Deb in the Assembly election,” said the source.
Braja Kishore Goswami, the first time he won from Santipur on October 30 by-election, was also likely to be a minister.
According to the Official Minister, Transportation and Housing Firhad Hakim and the Jyoti Minister of Forest Priya Mallick can be given an additional two departments.
One of the two ministers may be responsible for consumer affairs, or self-help group and entrepreneurial department held by Sadhan Pande, who underwent treatment at Mumbai Hospital.
CM is currently holding accusations of consumer affairs, self-help group and entrepreneurial department while Pande remains a minister of cabinet without a portfolio.
