Coimbatore: Police on Tuesday detained a 60-year-old person for allegedly beating a cheque for Rs 6 crore issued in the name of former attorney general Mukul Rohatgi and depositing it in a personal lender at Kovaipudur from town.
The detained person was recognized as D Muruganandam, 60, of Meenakshi Nagar in Kovaipudur.
Muruganandam was detained according to a complaint filed by R Sooraj, division director, HDFC Bank Ltd., Shiva Nagar, Kovaipudur, together with deputy commissioner of police (crime) ES Uma on June 7.
Afterward, the city crime branch filed an FIR.
In his criticism, Sooraj stated May 26, Muruganandam passed over a stuffed cheque foliage and asked to clear that the sum of Rs crore into Chennai-based Thirumangai Charitable Trust.
“I had a uncertainty within the toaster foliage.
As soon as I scanned it below the ultraviolet (UV) system, I discovered that the cheque was first forged.
Instantly, I contacted the Sunder Nagar Market division, Delhi, to confirm the account number and its own holder.
Even the Delhi branch officials asked using the accounts holder Mukul Rohatgi and heard he hadn’t issued any cheque in favor of Thirumangai Charitable Trust,” Sooraj said.TNN
