Man attacked with sharp weapons in Thane, two held

THANE: A 32-year-old man was attacked with a sharp weapon in the Shrirang society area of Thane over an old enmity with the accused.
The victim, identified as Dinesh Panchal 32, a resident of Anand park area, has been admitted in a hospital and recuperating, the police said.
The two accused Hitesh Ausare 21, and Itesh Dhende 23, both residents of Warlipada in Shrinagar area have been arrested.
The incident occurred during the wee hours of Wednesday, where the accused armed with sharp weapons targeted the accused to avenge an assault by the victim on them in Yeoor over drunken brawl, said a police officer .
The officer added that the accused and the victim are not known to each other and it was around a month back, the friends of victims as well as friends of accused were boozing somewhere in the Yeoor area.
In the meantime, the two groups clashed with each other over petty issues and hurled abuses as well as physically assaulted the accused and the victim.
“The duo, after the incident had followed Panchal in an autorickshaw and found him going to this area.
This was the third time they waited to take revenge and found him alone,” said a police officer.
They waylaid him and beat him balck and blue with iron rods as well as attacked him with a sharp knife due to which the victim fell down.
The victim was moved to the hospital and the accused were arrested by the police.
A case has been registered by the Rabodi police under Section 307, 34 and Maharashtra Police Act Section-135.
