Man fails to arrange money, stages robbery in Vadodara

VADODARA: The alleged incident of a man being robbed of Rs 1 lakh by a motorcycle rider who snatched his bag near Thamna crossroads in Umreth taluka of Anand has turned out to be a fake complaint.
Rashesh Thakkar from Vadodara had alleged on Tuesday that he had gone to meet Nimesh Patel at latter’s tobacco warehouse near Thamna Crossroads.
He further claimed that a motorcyclist pushed him on the ground and sped away with the bag containing Rs 1 lakh cash.
An offence was registered regarding the incident by the Umreth police based on Thakkar’s complaint.
However, investigations led to suspicions regarding the complaint itself.
The police questioned Thakkar and gathered some more evidence.
It came to light that Thakkar had entered into a land deal with Patel and was to pay Patel Rs 11 lakh on Tuesday.
Thakkar could not arrange the money by the due date.
Thakkar allegedly roped in Paresh Talpada who worked at a cattle shade.
He asked Talpada to wear a helmet and help him so that he could get an insurance claim.
Talpada followed Thakkar wearing the helmet, pushed him when he got out of the car and took away the bag.
The bag was actually empty.
Talpada burnt the bag, helmet and jacket he was wearing to destroy evidence.
