Ranchi: The police have arrested a Ahmad Irshad who allegedly deceived a number of people from Bihar and Jharkhand on behalf of sending them to Mecca for Haj and Umrah.
The defendant had been arrested from near the Big Bazaar under the Saraidhela Police Station in Dhanbad District after specific information.
Some phones and false documents are confiscated from it.
Speaking to Medium on Tuesday, SP (Ranchi Rural) Naushad Alam said Irshad was the defendant and desired in at least five cases registered at the police station in Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal.
He said Irshad was accused of cheating one Iftakar Ahmad and his brother-in-law Rs 12 Lakh, added that this case was registered at the Ormanjhi police station.
SP said police from several districts had also contacted him about their case after arrest.
