Tiruvannamalai: A 43-year-old man killed his wife with a hammer and died of suicide on Friday after his father-in-law failed to pay the loan he had obtained from a financier by promising homes and agricultural land in the village near Arni in the Tiruvannamalai district.
Police said C Moorthy had helped his father-in-law ezhumalai, 62, in securing a loan from several Lakh Rupees from a financier by promising his home and two-hectare agriculture land to overcome losses in business seven years ago.
Ezhumalai does not pay interest on time or the principal in installments to the investors as promised causes a frequent argument between Moory and his wife Kalaiselvi.
The couple married 17 years ago and begged two daughters and a son.
In a single fight on Friday, Moory in anger hit his wife’s head with a hammer.
Kalaiselvi suffered a severe head injury and died in place.
Moory panicked watching his wife died after he hit him.
Then, he hung himself from a tree on his farm.
Arni Police Taluk enrolled a case.
