Navi Mumbai: Navi Mumbai police have arrested a man in connection with the death of senior citizens, whose body recovered from the hole in the Ulwe area last week, an official said on Saturday.
The police have arrested Mohanlal Ganaram Chowdhary, a grocery store owner, for allegedly killing Shyamkant up (80) and throwing his body in a hole filled with water, the official said.
The police have seen the body of an unknown person floating in a water containing water in the 19th sector of Ulve on September 4, he said.
The autopsy revealed that the victim had been strangled with a nylon rope and was thrown out in the pool, after the murder case was registered, the official said.
Based on the record of missing people in the area, “Rakhi” in the body of the victim and dentures, the police determined the identity of the victim to rise, which had been lost since August 29, he said.
During the probe, the police detained Chowdhary, who claimed to have killed the victim after he reportedly made progress on his wife.
The victim used to supply kerosene to the defendant’s shop and often visited the last establishment, the official said.
When it rises to visit the defendant’s shop on August 29, the latter banged his head to the store table and strangled him with a rope, he said.
The accusation then disarmed the victim and threw away in the hole, the official said, added that further investigation was ongoing.
