PALGHAR: A 54-year-old man sank after the boat where he partyed with several inverted friends on the river in Palghar district, police said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on Sunday when the victim, Sashikanant Govind Gurav, celebrated his friend’s birthday along with 10 to 12 other people on the boat in Naringi Creek, a police officer said.
Their boat was upside down during the celebration, he said, adding that the victim did not know swimming and swept in the waters.
He was then pulled out and was taken to the hospital where the doctor said he was taken dead, the official said.
The police have registered cases of unintentional death, he added.
