Amritsar: A man was arrested at the airport in Amritsar for allegedly trying to smuggle on the gold pasta of 1.894g by hiding it in his underwear, the customs department statement said on Monday.
The man, who arrived here on a flight from Sharjah, was arrested on Sunday, he said.
During passenger search, customs officials found gold 1,894g in the form of a pasta hidden in its underwear.
Extraction, 1,600 grams of gold worth Rs 78 lakh recovered, said the statement.
Passengers have been arrested and investigations are taking place, he said.
