Coimbatore: A resident of the 26-year-old Hudco colony, who posted a photo on the Instagram page brandishing a crescent, killed by a gang on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Kumar Kumar, a construction worker.
“Ashok is a member of the gang unnikrishnan.
He recently uploaded a photo carrying a sickle as a status message on Instagram, which had the song Chennai North Gaana glorifying noise.
He also posted a message that brave his opponents,” the police station said.
When Ashok visited a bar on Friday night, his rival gang member included Shanmugam facing him and took a fight over Instagram post.
After fellow tiplers intervened and mediated peace, Ashok went to his house.
Shanmugam and his friends Shiva, Babu and Amarnath followed Ashok and followed him near his house.
They attacked him using sharp weapons.
Ashok suffered a serious injury and rushed to a private hospital, and then to the College Medical Coimbatore Hospital.
But the doctor said he was dead, “the officer added.
The body shifted to the morgue for autopsy.
The police Saravanampatti registered a case and formed a team to arrest the suspect.
