Kolkata: Baranagar police arrested a man for allegedly attacking former Minister of Transportation and Kamarhati TMC Mla Madan Mitra at a restaurant in Dunlop on the northwestern suburbs of the city on Monday night.
Police said the defendant, was identified as Pradip Dey, harassed partners in the restaurant near Dunlop more.
Partners went to the restaurant for dinner along with several party colleagues.
Dey has been sent in police custody for five days after being produced at the Barrackpore court on Tuesday.
The motive right behind the attack has not been confirmed.
“Some inconsistencies were found in his statement.
The defendant will be interrogated further in this connection,” said a senior police officer Barkpore commissioner.
