LONDON: Manchester City has canceled a friendly pre-season in France against Troyes because of the requirements of British quarantine, the Premier League Champion said on Wednesday.
Whoever arrives in England from France must be quarantined at home or in other accommodations for five to 10 days, under the rules of the British government.
“The two clubs explore all the ways to be able to play games, but changes in the British government recently for the rules of quarantine for travelers who returned from France have made restrictions needed too difficult to overcome,” City said.
Promoted Ligue 1 Side Troyes is part of the same Abu Dhabi city football group, which includes the New York City League football team and the Spanish Girona team.
City’s first team forces will now continue their pre-season preparation in Manchester, without plans to replace the friendly.
They played Second Tier Preston North End behind a closed door on July 27 who was friendly before the shield community at the London Wembley Stadium against the FA Cup winner Leicester City on August 7.
