New Delhi: Smriti Mandhana is the ideal candidate to lead India after ODI and tested Mithali Raj Pension captain after the World Cup conclusion in New Zealand next year, said the former Shantha Rangaswamy captain.
HarmanPreet Kaur has become the T20 captain since 2016 but it is carried out which is not consistent as the dough does not make it an automatic choice to replace Mithali in a longer format.
Mandhana, on the other hand, has formed itself as one of the best battery in the world.

“Smriti is the ideal choice after Mithali retirement.
He has become a very good player for India and must be given the opportunity to lead the country,” Shantha, who led India to the first test period they won back in 1976, told by PTI.
Shantha, who also happened to be a member of the APEX BCCI Board, felt the captain had affected Batting Harmanpreet which he said was the key to India’s success.
Mandhana, who has played four tests, 62 ODIS and 84 T20IS, was last seen in a big bash woman in Australia where she also scored a hundred against Melbourne Renegades.
HarmanPreet, who has struggled with shapes and fitness for the past 12 months, also did it well in Bash Bash and still had to be seen if he could take him to the highest level.
The next assignment of India will be an away series against New Zealand before the World Cup in March-April.
India has completed the runner-up in 2017.
With a challenger of women concluded on Thursday, Shantha said the competition showed that there were no talent in the country.
“This event has explored a lot of talent which is good for women’s cricket.
It also shows that we are ready for Women’s IPL,” he added.
