Mangaluru: Mangaluru International Airport, despite being the second main airport in the state, has no direct flights to Delhi.
They were suspended a few months ago quoting a bad passenger burden, according to the airline.
At present, one must spend more than five hours to reach Delhi through the airline link.
The source shows no request for the route.
“There is only seasonal demand to this route, especially when students learn in Manglaela or Manipal go or return to their hometown.
There is also a request for the weekend.
Otherwise flights have only 50% occupancy,” Senior executive claims from low airlines , “It’s not economically worthy.
We can start service when the time is right,” added the executive.
Senior officials from other airlines show that the main reason for stopping flight services to any purpose, is a bad passenger burden.
Tweet from the official handle of Mangaluru International Airport, Mangaluru Airport @mlrairport on January 24, 2017 claims otherwise.
It tweeted: “Good Mangalore-Delhi-Mangalore Jet Airways and Mangalore-Hyderabad-Mangalore Spicejet Flight Both are fine with more than 90% load like now.” There are direct flights available for Delhi, which are suspended on March 28.
