Mangaluru: Most Rev Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop Mangalore on Sunday inaugurated the first phase of ‘Synod 2021-2023’, during the Eucharist mass held in the Holy Woman Rosary Cathedral here.
The bishop kicked the Sinodal process in the diocese, at the end of the masses, by revealing the Synod logo, in the presence of priests, religious brothers and sisters and ordinary people gathered.
The theme of the synod described on the logo read: ‘for the Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission.’ To discuss the synod process in the diocese, research sessions for priests, religious and lay leaders will be held on October 21 on October 21, 50th anniversary of the Pastoral Board of Diocesan, organized in the UNWA church.
In the address, Bishop Saldanha said, “Holy Father, Pope Francis has opened a journey of consultation and affirmation of Tiga Sineoda in 9 and 10 October at the Vatican, Rome.
This will peak with the Assembly on October 2023 in Rome.
The process includes three phases: diocese, Continental and universal.

Msgr Maxim L Noronha, Vicar General, Rev.
Paul Melwyn D’Souza, Episcopal Vicar for Religion, Reverend Joseph Martis, chief executive for the synod process in the diocese is present among others.
