Mangaluru Cops prepares to overcome the threat of drones

Mangaluru: After an attack at the Indian Air Force Station using a drone in Jammu, there are many worries throughout the country, on readiness to handle such situations.
Mangaluru City Police have identified zones without flies, and signaling the government to declare the zone.
Mangaluru is a sensitive place with companies such as NMPT, MrPL and many industries, which have security implications.
Last year there was a small toy helicopter incident and a small drone found near Mangaluru International Airport.
Sources that are highly placed to tell that such cases have been taken seriously, and are being followed up.
Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar has worked in close coordination with the Civil Aviation Security Bureau, to introduce adequate steps, which will protect the airport and the company from drone attacks or intrusions.
They have spoken with several Israeli institutions, to obtain technology to deal with threats caused by drones, said an officer.
Technology to deal with drones is to break communication channels with drones, which include radio communication between drone operators and drones, and to disable the GPS drone system.
“The best of technology will be implemented not only in Mangaluru, but throughout the country,” said a senior officer.
DCP Hariram Shankar said, “Recently, we have seen people use toy drones, drones for wedding photography and recreational purposes.
Drones must be registered.
It is important to have a unique identification number (UIN) and unmanned aircraft operator permission (Unop ) from the Director General of Civil Aviation.
All Pilot Drones must have a pilot drone license and have to undergo training if the drone is flying.
The drone must be insured.
“He told TII they were in close coordination with the Association of South Kancarara Photographers, and have registered all drones with their registration number and other details.
Asking Drone users to follow legal steps, he said drones without legal documents will be confiscated.
Nearly 50 drone owners have been identified.
We tend to tie coaches for training sessions on drones, he added.
