Mangaluru : For a small hotel the price hike can be a challenge

Mangaluru: While eating in most cities is expected to be expensive because of rising prices of essential commodities and commercial LPG cylinders, many owners of small hotels in the city are in a Catch-22 situation.
They show that it is impossible to increase the price as of now because the business has not reached the level of pre-covid.
Harish Barvathaya, from Hotel Shri Rama Vilas, Kadri said, “We can not think of delivering the load to our customers.
There is no doubt that the costs of inputs have increased, but our customers most workers daily wages and those of the middle class.
In fact, they has asked us to reduce the price, we might think of the rate increases, when the increased flow of customers, “he said.
A hotel manager Ramesh B says most small and medium enterprises have decided to wait and observe the market before deciding on an increase in prices.
He said many of the hotels increased by a rate of about 18 months ago.
“In the case of LPG cylinder prices fall, it may not be easy to bring down the price.
Because the business just took after lockdown, many hotels will slow the rise in prices,” he added.
Chandrakanth Kamath of Hotel Shivabagh say they are not increasing prices for now.
“Because we operate from our own building, we have been able to manage so far,” he said.
Meanwhile, some hotels have increased the price for a cup of tea from Rs 10 Rs 13.
The cost of two vadas that used to cost Rs 20 now costs Rs 30 and a plate of idli has increased from Rs 20 Rs 30.
prices of almost all items of sin has been increased by Rs 5.
DK Hotel and Restaurant Association president Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy said some hotels have increased their prices by 10-20%, primarily due to the increase in the price of commercial LPG cylinders and raw material prices.
“This business is slowly improving.
Approximately 25% of customers do not step out of their homes, which can also be caused Covid fear and companies still follow the work of the house,” he added.
