Mangaluru: Timely Intervention from Shobha Karandlaje, the welfare of the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers, helping a Mangalurean woman traveling from Kuwait to Mangaluru without subjecting her six-month-old child to the Covid-19 test on Saturday.
Adithi Sudesh Nayak Karopady, a resident of Kuntusana in Mangaluru, said the Indian water staff at Kuwait Airport insisted that the baby’s son took the test if he wanted him to fly.
Adithi then relates to Mohandas Kamath, a NRI, which reaches Karandlaje.
Karnataka MP in turn contacted the Minister of Aviation Civil Jyotiraditya M Scindia.
The ministries and Adithi and the child are then allowed to travel.
Adithi, whose husband works in Kuwait, returns to Mangaluru for a short visit.
He is scheduled to leave Kuwait on Indian air flights at 5pm (7:30 a.m.) on Saturday.
He said he finished the web check-in on time.
“I arrived at the airport at 3:30 a.m., but was not allowed to rise,” Adithi said.
“I have a negative report, but Air Indian staff say I have to do the test for the child too or cancel flights.
They are ready to postpone flights for 15 minutes for me.
My travel agent and hospital also told me the Covid-19 test was not needed for Children under two years.
“Adithi said he was in touch with Kamath, his cousin.
He in turn appealed to Karandlaje.
“After this, Air Indian staff in Kuwait allows us,” he said, thank Karandlaje.
Kamath said without “fast response” Karandlaje, Adithi will not return home.
