Mumbai: Lata singer Mangeshkar was treated to violate the candy hospital when he was tested positive for Covid-19 days ago.
“He was treated late on Saturday night and had covid pneumonia,” said Senior Consultant Dr Pratik Samdhani who treated Mangeshkar.
He added Mangeshkar, who was 92 years old, was in the hospital intensive care unit (ICU).
“This is a light Covid-19 case, but we thought of removing Didi (because Mangeshkar was handled by his family, a friend, and legion of fans) to the ICU considering the old age.
He recovered,” said Rachana Shah, writer and nephew of Mangeshkar.
“The best doctor team takes care of him.
Admirers and countless Didi friends pray for their health and their prayers will definitely be answered,” Shah added.
Mangeshkar is on oxygen support and can remain in the hospital for a few more days.
The source said he did not need the support of the current invasive ventilator.
A senior official from DD Ward, where Mangeshkar was, said he was in a hospital for another medical condition three days ago and was tested positive Covid-19 during treatment.
Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said he had been told that the condition of Mangeshkar was stable.
“If needed, I will also visit the hospital and ask about his health with doctors because I might not be able to meet directly with him,” said Pednekar.
Mangeshkar, who was honored by Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in the country in 2001, was accepted to violate hospital candies in 2019 after complaining about the respiratory problems said by the doctor.
Mangeshkar is held at high prices not only for melliflued songs, but also because of its ability to integrate India into the overall pulsed culture, said observers.
Close friends, musicians and film personalities have called Prabhu Kunj, the residence of the legendary singer Pedder Road, to ask for his health.

In a tweet, Bengal Bengal Barat Mamata Banerjee said he prayed for the fast recovery of Mangeshkar.
