Pune: Mango chest has been sold at a cost of RS 31,000 defeat during auction on the market in Pune and traders claiming that it is the purchase of “the most expensive” in 50 years.
When mango began to arrive on the market, the fruit chest was welcomed with a bouquet of flowers stored on it while traders with hands folded praying for the opening of a good mango trade.
The first removable Mango box has arrived at the APMC Pune market on Friday from Devgad Ratnagiri.
Trader Yuvraj Kachi said, “This is the early mango this season.
Every year, this initial mango is auctioned as a ritual for deciding the fate of trading for the next two months.” To buy this mango chest, auction is held where the offer starts from Rs 5,000 and rises to RS 31,000.
The first mango peting arrived at Pune Market offered with RS 18,000, the second at RS 21,000, the third at Rs 22,500 and the fourth also at Rs 22,500, the trader said.
“This is the fifth chest auctioned in Pune Market.
It sells for RS 31,000.
In the last 50 years, it is the highest bid at Pasar Pune,” the merchant said.
During the Covid-19 pandemic in the past two years, the merchant said the business was down and traders caused losses.
“But now, everything is normal, so we want to continue the earliest, which is why we buy mangoes at this level,” he added.
