New Delhi: Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday about the mode government over a terror attack on Assam’s rifle convoy in Manipur, accusing the incident “once again proves” it is unable to protect the nation.
He also sent condolences to their families who lost their lives in the attack.
“The terrorist attack on the convoy of army in Manipur once again proves that the Modi Government is unable to protect the nation.
My condolences to martyrs and condolences to their families.
The nation will remember your sacrifice,” he said in a tweet in Hindi.
Khuga Khuga Commander Officer Assam Rifles Colonel Viplav Tripathi, in addition to four personnel from paramilitary forces were killed in an ambush in Manipur on Saturday morning, in the fresh eruption of militant violence in the state.
Other Congress leaders, including Ashok Gehlot and Jairam Ramesh, also condemned the attack and demanded action against the people behind him.
“Very condemning a coward attack on Assam Rifles Convoi in Churachandpur, Manipur where five brave personnel and two family members lost their lives.
Taking their martyrdom and expanding sincere condolences to the grieving family,” said Chief Minister Rajasthan Gehlot on Twitter.
“It’s really surprising and very sad! May those responsible will be immediately taken to court,” said the former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh.
Tripathi convoy is targeted in the village until the Churachandpur Regency allegedly the militant of the People’s Revolutionary Party Kangleipak (Prove), a militant group in Manipur demanded separate homeland.
There was an explosion of an improvised (IED) explosive device before the Assam Rifles personnel involved militants in the shootout.
