Mangaluru: The Minister of Social Welfare of Shrinivas Poojari and Congress Candidate Manjunath Bhandari won the election of the Legislative Council of the State from Dakshina Kannada Bikameral on Tuesday.
Both candidates secure the majority are needed for victory in the first preference vote count.
Meanwhile, SDPI candidate Ismail Shafi K lose elections.
Of the 6,040 voters in constituency, 6,011 has been running their franchise during the election held on December 10, 56 votes invalid.
While the city of Shrinivas Poojari pocketed 3,672 votes, Manjunath Bhandari secured 2,079 and Ismail Shafi was only 204.
Poojari dedicated his victory to the hard work of party workers.
He has won the election for the fourth term.
Bhandari thanked Congress workers and said they would work as MLC from the selection of local authorities to empower Gram Panchayats.
