Panaji: Former Chief Minister Manohar Parragar said Utpal on Monday said that he planned to oppose the election of upcoming assembly.
“Active talks with parties (BJP), I have trust in the party that they will give me a ticket,” he said.
Asked what he would do if BJP denied his pass, he said, “I will compete from Panaji and the party must give me a chance”.
He added that after the discussion, the party would tell him (his decision).
Utpal said that he had begun to meet people in Panaji, and that he had told BJP’s wishes.
He said that the party would support him to fight for the upcoming assembly selection on the ticket.
He added that he had conveyed his aspirations to visit BJP leaders.
Utpal was frontrunner for a party ticket in the 2019 dispute after his father’s death.
However, BJP, at the last minute, decided to support the former Panaji Mla Sidharth Kuncalienker.
BJP lost the election, for the first time in Panaji since 1994.
During his meeting with people, one resident reported traffic problems in Narkisur City Night.
Utpal said he later held a meeting with the police at the North Goa Head Office to discuss traffic downsizing.
“We have given them advice on how to manage traffic, and they will actively manage traffic,” he said.
