Manpreet adds to the winner of Khel Ratna; Ministry of Okays 35 Arjuna Recipient

New Delhi: Indian Hockey Hockey Team who won the Olympics, Manpreet Singh’s captain on Tuesday adds a list of the main entertainers of Dhyan Khel Ratna, taking the total number of winners this year to 12, with a ceremony scheduled for November 13 at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Manpreet was originally recommended for the Arjuna award but he joined the Veteran goalkeeper P R Sreejesh as the second hockey player in the list of the highest sports honor.
The other leading Khel Ratna winners this year included the Olympic Champion of the Chopra Neeraj and Olympic Silver Medalist Ravi Dahiya.
Among the 35 Arjuna recipients are mostly the winners of the Indian Paralimpies and Cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Mithali Raj.
“The recipient will receive their appreciation from the President of India with a specially organized function in Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan on November 13, 2021 (Saturday) at 1630 hours,” The Ministry of Sport was announced.
It was held online last year due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The Khel Ratna award was given for spectacular and most prominent performance in the field of sports by a sportsman for four years earlier.
Arjuna award for outstanding performance in sports and was given for good performance for four years earlier and showed the quality of leadership, sportsmanship and discipline.
“A large number of nominations received for this award this year, considered by the selection committee led by the Justice (Right.) Mukundakam Sharma (former Supreme Court Judge), which consists of members of the leading sportsmen and people who have experience in sports journalism & Sports administrators etc., “The Ministry said.
