Filmfare award-winning writer and said the author Manu Bhandari exhaled his last breath on Monday in Gurgaon.
He is 90 years old.
Manu Bhandari’s writing inspired many films not only for silver screens but for a small screen too.
Many books and stories are adapted as a television film for the Doordarshan era.
From the most famous Hindi feature films are the BASU Director Chatterjee ‘Rajnigandha’ (1974) adapted from the story titled Yehi Sach Hai and ‘Swami’ (1977) used by Bhandari.
The film features ‘Samay Ki Dhara’ (1986) adapted from his second novel ‘Aap Ka Bunty’ but he had a problem when Bhandari sued creative makers.

Apart from this, the story of Akeli, Trishku, Mahabhoj, Nasha and Rani Maa Ka Chabutara were all adapted to telephilms by various filmmakers.
