Tokyo: Indian shooter Manu Bhaker and Rahi Sarn, each placed 5 and 25 each in the 25m Women’s Gun Qualification (Precision) at the Tokyo Olympics here on Thursday.
In the field of 44 shooters, Bhaker scored 292 after 30 shots on the target at the precision round while his compatriot received 287 in qualifying at the range of Asaka shooting.
The second stage of qualification – fast rounds – will take place on Friday.
Top-8 shooter in qualifications will enter the final.
Zorana Arunovic Serbia led the package with 296 points, followed by Greece Anna Korakaki who had 294.
In the third relay, Bhaker had a good start as a 19-year shooter shot back to 77 in two series.
With only two 9 in the third, Bhaker stacked 98 points to rise to the top-5.
Bhaker returned strongly to score five 10 of his last five shots after three points in the second series.
Osijek Gold Medal World Cup Sarnobat, who was in the first relay of 10 shooters, started precision rounds with 96 and followed him with 97.
However, thanks to 8 and some 9s, he managed 94 in the last precision series.
The total in the precision round is 287/300 which places its 7th out of 10 in its relay.
