Many new cancer facilities that appear in the state

Bhubaneswar: cancer treatment gets a big focus in many government and private health facilities in the state.
Many hospitals have come up with new facilities to take care of more and more cancer patients.
The Chairman of Minister of Naveen Patnaik recently announced that Odisha would have advanced facilities for cancer treatment in the next two to three years.
The state has carried out the district cancer chemotherapy program.
Plan to increase radiotherapy units at the district level.
If every hospital in the district head office does not have this facility, the units will be made.
The state government has begun the work of Acharya Harihar Acharya Postgraduate Institute of Cancer (AHPGIC) in Cuttack.
Now the Institute has 280 beds, but will be upgraded to a 500 bed hospital with 20 ICU beds.
It will have CT PET, a new daily care center, brachytherapy, Linac machine for cancer patient care.
“We will install all of these machines in November.
We have set a target to complete the hospital extension work at the end of this year.
After this, many cancer patients will benefit.
This will improve cancer treatment in the state,” said Lalalatendu Sarangi, Director of Ahpgic Cuttack.
The foundation stones have been placed for cancer hospitals and Shankara Bagchi-Sri research, and research centers at Bagchi-Karunashraya Care Center in the capital.
This will help the capital city to become the leading center of the country in cancer and palliative care services.
AIIMS BHubaneswar has complete cancer treatment facilities.
Most of the time, this hospital bed is filled with affordability.
In addition, the state government will come with a cancer hospital in Bargarh with an estimated cost of Rs 90 Crore.
Apollo Hospitals also came with a new cancer treatment unit in the city, said the source.
More than 50,000 cancer cases are identified every year in the state.
Ahpgic, the only cancer hospital from the state government, gets many patients.
Although private hospitals also provide services, poor people depend on government arrangements.
Ashutosh Mohapatra, founder of the SAI Institute of Gastroenterology and Hearts, Bhubaneswar, said gastric cancer remains one of the deadly diseases with a poor prognosis and remains the most diagnosed cancer fourth and the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths throughout the world.
Early detection and diagnosis determines the success of care, he added.
“In the past five months, we have succeeded in detecting five patients with initial gastric cancer.
Increased detection of early stomach cancer can cause more minimal invasive treatments,” said Mohapatra.
Delip Kumar Parida, Head of Radiotherapy, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, said the state must have a list of total incidence of cancer cases every year to plan patient treatment.
“After getting a clear picture of a case, it will be easy to find out which places contribute more cases.
Given the cases, the government can open hospitals and navigate camps in the area.
Another main thing is the early detection of cancer through a camphoring camp in the state .
Palliative care unit for cancer patients is also needed, “he added.
He said consolidated efforts were needed to help cancer patients.
Apart from infrastructure, trained personnel are needed for patient care, he added.
