Many private schools in B’luru face acute teacher shortages

BENGALURU: Now that the campus classes have been returned for all grades, some private schools are facing an acute shortage of teachers.
Schools and institutions hit hard pandemic forced to close for more than one-and-a-half years.
Teachers bear the burden.
Many quit after their pay cut while others were laid off.
Schools say many have been moved to other professions and places, and employ the same staff back near impossible.
“When it hit the pandemic and parents stop paying the fees, many schools can not afford to pay their teachers,” said D Shashi Kumar, secretary of the Association of Primary and Secondary School Management Karnataka.
“Many professions change.
Some of them moved back to their hometown and are not willing to come back.
There is already a shortage of qualified teachers even before hitting the pandemic, and the situation has become worse now.
” Teachers take on another job, from data entry operator for beauty and online tutors and new applications for online education.
The most severe shortage of math and science instruction, said the school.
