Bhubaneswar: Maoist leader who was feared by Dubashi Sankar, who brought the cash prize of RS 20 lakh in the head and allegedly killed many security personnel in the past, was arrested at Odisha on Tuesday.
The arrest of the high ranking Cadre Maois was the first in the last 20 years, police said.
Sankar, which is a member of the Special Zonal Committee of the Andhra Odisha (SZCM), was arrested from the Boipariguda police area in Coraput Hit Maois.
He was sought by police in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana because of their alleged involvement in several vile cases, including murder and conspiracy to fight against India.
He was ordered in two cases in the coraput and 18 cases in the district of Malkangiri.
At least 32 cases are registered with it in Visakhapatnam district and 24 cases in Telangana.
“Sankar’s arrest was a great achievement for the Odisha police because there were no high ranking Maois leaders arrested or killed in our country in the last 20 years,” said the Director General of Police.
Police said Sankar was allegedly involved in the murder of 10 Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel in Damanjodi on April 12, 2009.
He was also involved in Ambush Janiguda in the Chitrachonda area of ​​Malkangiri on February 10, 2012 where four Border security powers (BSF) personnel were killed.
Sankar is desirable at Landmine Landmine Govindpalli in Coraput on April 4, 2010 where 11 police personnel were killed.
Police said Sankar, had joined the Maoist organization in 1987 at the Indrapuriyal Area Committee in Andhra Pradesh as a party member.
He was promoted to the rank of SZCM in 2003 and joined the Special Zonal Committee of the Andhra Odisha (AOBSZC) border in 2004.
In 2010, he joined the State Military Commission (SMC).
In the related development, a Maoist surrendered before the Deputy Inspector General (South West Range) Rajesh Pandit in Coraput Regency on Tuesday.
MAOIS which was submitted was identified as Sonal Madvi, which is a member of the Area Committee (ACM).
Madvi was arrested by the Police of Andhra Pradesh in 2018.
After being released from prison in May 2019 about the bail, he returned to the folds of Maois.
The police said his wife was also associated with CPI (Maois).
