Panaji: After several delays, the new Mapusa bus stand finally can see the settlement of its first phase, with a temporary bus stand expected to be ready next month.
“The works will be tentatively complete on January 1, 2022.
Only the finishing touch of finishing and paving areas are delayed,” said Mapusa Mla Joshua D’Souza.
The initial deadline given for phase one is six months, which will end in July.
As many as 20,000 square meters in the Mapusa bus holder are below the state transportation directorate, around 10,000 SQMS which will be developed under the phase of one of the projects.
The progress of the project moves at the speed of the snail, and D’Souza has linked reasons from some delays in work for prolonged rain causing disruption and cement compaction.
One of the main problems completed was water retention because of the monsoon, Fernandes said.
The bus stand currently has 54 bus bays, 48 car parking slots and 68 two-wheeled slots, and space for 15 autorickshaw.
“This system is systematic for the load of the current vehicle and all buses placed outside the bus stand will be allowed to operate from within place.
There will also be facilities for vehicle parking last night.
This will reduce the burden on vehicle traffic in the city,” he said.
After this, the phase of the two projects will be taken – which is to shift the KTC bus stand to start a multilevel parking project in the existing bus holder.
