MUMBAI: Within three months following the Supreme Court struck down the Maratha statute, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) authorities on Monday decided to permit the Maratha community to avail benefits below the 10 percent EWS (economically poorer segments ) quota in government jobs and schooling.
On the other hand, the Marathas would need to compete with other people in the open group to its 10 percent EWS quota, although the quota the neighborhood was awarded by Maharashtra and today stands quashed had awarded it 12% reservation in projects and 13 percent in schooling.
After the SC had remained the Maratha quota in September previous decades, the state authorities had permitted Marathas to submit an application for its EWS, but it’d stated they couldn’t avail of benefits under the Maratha quota after if they chosen for EWS gains.
The nation on Monday issued a government settlement enabling for availing EWS gains.
