Aurangabad: With 716 mm rainfall since June, Marathwada has received 131% of normal rainfall during the current rainy season, which is also the highest among the six Maharashtra divisions received.
The Conkan division was the second on the list with a normal 114% shower followed by Amravati (105%), Pune (89%), Nagpur (88%), and Nashik (78%).
In accordance with official data, the country as a whole has received the average rainfall of 917mm until Monday morning, which is 107% of normal rainfall from June and so on.
Shriniwas Aundhkar, Director of APJ Abdul Kalam Astro Space and Science Center in Aurangabad, said that on the right arrival of Monson coupled with favorable weather conditions in Bengal had resulted in a rainfall surplus for Marathwada.
