Panaji: South Goa Collector Ruchika Katyal has asked the Municipal Margao (MMC) leaders to take the cutting trees that unite the dangers in the city’s limits.
The municipality has been told that if there is an unwanted incident reported because of the negligence of the order, the responsibility will be set to the officer.
Katyal said that during the Tauktae cyclone many trees were removed which caused great damage to private and public property.
After this, Mamlatdar for Salcete was asked to submit a report on a tree that posed danger.
Katyal says that tree cutting must now be taken by the MMC official officer according to this report.
“You are directed to complete the work based on war footing, failing which, the action will begin under Section 57 of the disaster management law, 2005, and liabilities in terms of unwanted incidents and victims because non-compliance will be set to you directly for the negligence of the task, “Katyal told the MMC Chief Officer.
The head of the officer has been directed towards trimming the trees as shown in the Mamlatdar report for Salcete, except in cases where trees stand on private land and their owners in trimming.
All costs related to tree trimming will be borne by Margao Municipality, Katyal said.
“Tauktae Typhoon affects Goan coast and other parts of Goa on May 16, 2021, leaving traces of destruction such as damage to electricity supply, homes, trees, etc.
along with losing human life.
It is noted that many damage to private and public property is specifically reported in the jurisdiction of the board City of Margao, “Katyal said.
This is indicated by Margao and Fatorda Mlaas and Mamlatdar are thus asked to submit details reported in the trees that cause danger.
