Thane: anti-narcotics cells (ANC) from the police have seized marijuana worth more than Rs 8 Lakh and arrested three people to have in Maharashtra’s Thane City, said an official on Saturday.
Acting on the tip-off, the ANC team from the Crime Crime Thane Polda put a trap in Nashik-Mumbai Highway and intercepted automatic rickshaw on Thursday, the official said.
When searching for a vehicle, the police found that the residents had 35.9 kg of marijuana, worth 8.22 lakh Rs, in their ownership, he said.
The police arrested Mohasin Anis Shaikh, Laike Yunus Siddiqui and automatic rickshaw driver Kalim Salim Shaikh, all the residents of Nashik, said the official, added that a violation had been registered under the laws of narcotics and psychotropic substances (NDPS).
This trio carries contraband goods for sale and the police investigate the source of substances and to those who are intended for sale, stated.
