Marin withdraws from Tokyo Olympics Because of knee injury

MADRID: Spain’s Olympic women’s singles badminton champion Carolina Marin affirmed on Tuesday that she is not able to defend her crown Tokyo because of a knee injury.
Marin, a five-time European and three-time world champion who overcome Pusarla Venkata Sindhu of India to maintain gold in the Rio de Janeiro Games at 2016, stated she’s torn her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and the two meniscus in her knee.
“After assessments throughout the weekend along with also the medical appointment, I affirm I have ripped the ACL and meniscus within my left knee,” an announcement published on her social networking stations stated.
