Mumbai: Police Drive Marines have registered extortion cases, criminal violations of trust, fraud, forgery and criminal conspiracy against former Police Commissioner Param Singh, presents Deputy Commissioner (Crime Branch) Akbar Pathhan, Assistant Commissioner Shrikant Shinde and 6-7 other police officers because Allegedly tried to squeeze Rs 20 Crore from the developer.
Within hours after filing FIR, the police also arrested the Builder Sanjay Punamiya, a resident of Drive Marine, and a Sunil Jain colleague.
They were produced before the 8th Metropolitan Magistrate Court, which returned them to police detention until July 27.
Punamiya and Shyam Sunder Agarwal complainants are partners in realty projects in Gorai, Borivli and Bhayander, but they separated in 2011 after a dispute.
The complaint said Punyamiya used his relationship with Singh for years to intimidate and extort funds from agarwal after falling.

After agarwal was arrested, Punamiya sent an Association of Manoj Ghatkar to offer a solution.
Ghatkar met with Nephews Agarwal Sharad and Shubam at the residence of Param Bir Singh, said FIR.
Ghatkar threatened they were ordered under strict Maharashtra control against organized crime acts unless they pay Rs 20 Crore, said FIR.
Of this amount, RS 9 Crore paid and Associate Punamiya Sunil Jain was handed over to the Bhayandar Agarwal property.
Singh was the police commissioner Thane in this period.
FIR said it had to threaten the agarwal on behalf of Singh to extract the remaining Crore RS11.
In 2021, he filed another complaint against Agarwal at the Juhu Police Station for threats suspected of being made through the Chhota Shakeel gangster.
Singh is Mumbai’s commissioner from the police; This case is assigned to the crime branch.
The police raided the Parle Vile Agarwal office and confiscated documents that had never been taken at a record, said the advocate of Jagtap Shekar.
Nandkumar Gopale Inspector, Asha Korke and DCP Pathan also demanded Rs 50 Lakh from Agarwal, said FIR.
Pathhan threatened to catch agarwal if he failed to pay Singh and Punamiya, it added.
In a meeting on March 30, Punyamiya was forcibly obtained agarwal signatures on several property documents and took him and his nephew to the office of the Pathan official where the police were suspected of demanding Rs 50 Lakh and 2BHK in Bhayander.
Agarwal pays Rs 15.5 Crore by checking Punamiya and Rs 50 Lakh to Pathan, said FIR.
Also, Rs 25 Lakhwas was allegedly paid to the Assistant Commissioner of the Shrikant Shinde Police.
Pathan and other officers accused that they had been involved in disputes.
Singh is not available for comments.
