LONDON: Pacer Mark Wood and All-Rounder Chris Woakes will be added to the England squad for the fourth test against India after regaining full fitness, Chief coach Chris Silverwood said on Sunday.
Wood has hurt his right shoulder while lowering during the second test in God while Woakes has recovered from a heel injury that has made him out of international cricket since the ODI series against Pakistan in July.
Woakes plays domestic T20 games on Friday and will be an addition to the welcome for the squad in the absence of key players such as Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer.
“Both have come well.
Wood is a bowling yesterday morning.
He will be available for selection and Woakes has been played so he becomes available again,” Silverwood said the day after increasing British series in Leeds.
The fourth test began on September 2 at the Oval.
Wicketkeeper-Batsman Jos Buttler can miss the two remaining tests to attend the birth of his second child and when it happened, Jonny Bairstow will return to the back of the stump.
Is Bairstow for the job? “Yes, I am sure that Jonny can do the job if asked and Jonny wants to do the job if asked.
We already have that conversation.
He is happy to do that,” the coach added.
