Market buyers are divided before the Pongal Festival

Coimbatore: People packed the market on Thursday to buy flowers, fruits, vegetables, sugar cane, and turmeric to celebrate the price of flowers, vegetables and fruits located on the higher side, residents are relieved because the price of sugar cane remains the same as last year.
A pair of sugar cane is sold between 60 and 100, depending on the quality.
Straight stick is symmetrical and with a spacious portion take a good price.
Sugarcane traders said they bought it from the Salem and Madurai district, where they grew abundantly.
While procurement prices have increased this year than the previous year, they decided not to raise retail prices, said a trader.
“I bought a direct burden of farmers in Madurai.
The price is at least 5% to 10% high compared to last year, but I sold it for 50 each because there was a tight competition,” said Murugan from Vadakovai.
The market was busy on Wednesday and Thursday.
The price of flowers has doubled because of high demand, a trader said.
“The customer anticipates it, so there are no complaints,” he said.
“Except for some vegetables, carrots, bits, cauliflower, cabbage, drums, women’s and bringe fingers sold at high prices,” said P Mangaiyaramarai, a customer.
