New Delhi: The largest car maker in the country Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Monday reported a 24 percent decline in sales at 1,38,335 units in October.
The company has sold 1,82,448 units in October last year, MSI said in a statement.
Domestic sales slipped 32 percent to 1.17,013 units last month due to 1,72,862 units on September 2020, he added.
“While the shortage of electronic components continues to affect vehicle production during that month, the company takes all possible steps to minimize the impact.
Thus, the company sells more vehicles than the expected sales volume at the beginning of the month,” The Auto Department said.
Mini-car sales, consisting of Alto and S-Presso, fell 23 percent to 21,831 units compared to 28,462 in the same month last year.
Similarly, sales of compact segments, including models such as Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire, slumped 49 percent to 48,690 units against 95,067 cars in October last year.
The sales of the CIAZ medium-sized sedan decreased 25 percent to 1,069 units compared to 1,422 units in October 2020.
The sales of vehicle utilities, including Vitara Brezza, S-Cross and Ertiga, but rose 7 percent to 27,081 units compared to 25,396.
On the annual month, MSI said.
Exports jumped more than doubled at 21,322 units compared to 9,586 units in the month according to last year, the company said.
