Kolkata: The police have demanded 1,842 people in the city last weekend because they did not wear a mask properly.
About 80% of these special examinations have occurred outside the main market of the city and malls who are now watching the footsteps of buyers with the festival season almost a month.
The total number of prosecutions, claiming Lalbazar, is one of the highest since May when the second Covid wave hit the city.
According to the numbers provided by Lalbazar, a total of 772 people were withdrawn because they did not wear a mask properly on Friday.
On Saturday, this number floated around 759.
Until no day on Sunday, 311 people without masks were sued.
Last month, the police had taken action against 220-260 people every day because they did not wear the mask properly.
The amount is more than three times this weekend.
“We found that even until July, people at least have a mask near their chin.
But in early August, we found it completely lost.
We have targeted several places, where there are regular deviations.
These include markets and malls, where We are doing a special drive because of the pre-puja weekend, “said an officer.
Visits to the city’s main market also shows prosecution cannot instill discipline in people to wear masks.
Lalbazar is now bent in an intense round of campaigns before the pujas, even when he has asked the police in certain bags to increase prosecution.
They plan to use Puja Durga videos that are popular with taglines – Lip Pomjoy Mask must, Safety Mathai Rakhun first – starting last year.
In Pasar Baru, the police had stopped arresting the offenders and took him to the police station.
“There is a large crowd because of the celebration season and we will continue the journey.
We distribute masks and arrange kiosks to spread awareness among people,” said an officer.
In gariahah also, the police said they rely more on the campaign rather than prosecution.
