Mask prices remain high in t’gana despite production

Finish: Arun Hyderabad: the price of surgical masks continues to remain high in the country despite the fact that Hyderabad has the capacity to make 30 lakh surgical masks per day.
While 10 other Lakh masks are imported from Delhi every day, the cost remains high at Rs 10-15 for a three-layer mask purchased on the table.
In the suburbs, there are around 10 production units, each with the capacity to produce one lakh to four lakh surgical masks every day.
Apart from all this, prices have not fallen even though there is a request thanks to intermediary involvement in trade.
Because of this, users are forced to pay 5-10 times more than manufacturing costs on each mask.
There are several volatility for masks during and after the first and second waves of Covid-19, but the prices most remain unchanged even after expanded local production, said market analyst.
The manufacturer sells it to retailers only 90 Paise to return 1.
During the first wave of Covid-19, the store can buy a mask for around Rs 8 or Rs 9, but now the manufacturer sells less than Rs 2, even though the cost remains the same.
“Prices will not rise from our side because there are enough units in the city,” said Sriva Bhatti, a manufacturer.
“Procedure requests last week as a result of Omicron’s worries, but then declined quickly,” he said.
According to experts, more masking is obliged to consider the findings of the World Health Organization (WHO) that the value-r omicron is 1.6 times and four times more than the Delta variant.
“It’s better to wear a three-layer surgical mask or N95 mask every time we leave home, not just when entering a big meeting,” said Kiran Madala, an Indian council for a medical research certified researcher, said.
He stressed that the level of high transmission in the Omicron variant and that the use of a good mask was the first effective weapon against the variant.
